Airedale by Modine™, the Critical Cooling Specialists, introduced its MultiChill Propane heat pump chiller range. It is a modular, reversible air source heat pump solution designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient heating and cooling technologies. Operating on the natural refrigerant R290 (propane), the system delivers top-tier performance with minimal environmental impact.
MultiChill Propane is available in seven unit sizes; it offers cooling capacities ranging from 35 kW to 73 kW and heating capacities of 40 kW to 86 kW. It is optimized for natural refrigerant R290 (GWP 3), delivering a SEER up to 5.36, EER 2.86, and SCOP W55 3.63.
Delivering hot water at temperatures of up to 75°C and with the ability to manage double setpoints in heating and cooling operation, MultiChill Propane is suitable for comfort, industrial, and domestic hot water applications. It has three sound configurations for noise-sensitive applications, offering both application flexibility and energy-saving capabilities. With safety at the forefront, Airedale by Modine MultiChill Propane units are fitted with leak detectors and have a double division between the control section and refrigerant circuit compartment. An air purge system to release refrigerant allows for ventilation and refrigerant extraction. In common use throughout the UK, propane is classified as a Class A3 substance in line with British Standard BS EN 378-1 with low toxicity.
Simon Scott, Commercial Director for Airedale by Modine, said, “The MultiChill Propane is a groundbreaking addition to Airedale by Modine’s sustainable range of commercial and industrial heat pump chillers.” “Critical to industry, propane delivers a high-efficiency solution. Like most things, as long as safety protocols are followed, it is safe to use.”
The MultiChill system is built with modularity in mind—up to 16 units can be interconnected to form a local network, providing a total output of 1168 kW cooling and 1376 kW heating. With an integrated system tank, optimised airflow design, and a compact footprint, the system is especially well-suited for legacy sites seeking sustainable upgrades without compromising on performance.
