Carrier Transicold Advances Cold Chain Training with High-Tech Refrigeration Solutions

Carrier Transicold has deepened its partnership with the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold Chain (ACES) by delivering cutting-edge refrigeration units and digital cold chain solutions to support training and capacity-building efforts in East Africa.

Carrier Transicold has delivered transport refrigeration units and connected cold chain solutions to support training and the development of sustainable cold chain systems in East Africa, as part of its ongoing collaboration with the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold Chain (ACES).

ACES has taken delivery of Carrier’s in-kind donation of a refrigerated box equipped with a Supra® HE 6, a Citimax® 280 Fresh unit, and telematics devices, including Carrier Transicold’s Lynx Fleet connected cold chain solution, at its campus in Kigali, Rwanda. The equipment will enhance courses by providing hands-on experience with refrigeration units for trainees and future trainers. It will also enable trainers to provide an overview of service and maintenance and present the benefits of the Lynx Fleet platform, which helps ensure cargo safety, fleet management, and temperature accuracy.

Carrier Transicold has delivered approximately 450 hours of intensive training, empowering and training over 65 individuals. Through ACES courses and a Specialized Outreach and Knowledge Establishment (SPOKE) session in Kenya, Carrier Transicold has been at the forefront of advancing transport refrigeration. These sessions cover refrigerated road transport solutions, telematics tools, connected systems, and best practices in cold chain and distribution. Carrier Transicold’s commitment to education and innovation is helping shape the future of this critical industry.

Carrier’s trainings showcase the advantages of post-harvest cold chain solutions for farmers, aiding in the reduction of food loss and the optimization of food delivery. The ACES collaboration in Rwanda aligns with Carrier’s 2030 goals to positively impact communities by alleviating hunger and food loss and promoting sustainability through education, collaborations, and climate resiliency programs.
