The 2025 World Refrigeration Day event, taking place in Paris, on June 18, 2025, will be hosted by the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) with a global focus on sustainability and innovation.
The event’s central theme will be “The critical role of refrigeration and heat pump solutions in advancing human well-being, animal welfare, and climate sustainability.” Sessions will look at technological advancements, policy frameworks, and integrated approaches that connect sustainable cooling to global development goals.
The event will provide an opportunity to celebrate World Refrigeration Day and a platform for discussions about the refrigeration sector’s vital role, from ensuring access to safe food and temperature-sensitive health products through refrigeration and cold chains, to supporting the decarbonisation of the heating sector through heat pump technologies and advancing energy security.
This year’s event features a specially curated exhibition that charts the development of refrigeration technology and the historical influence of the IIR since 1908. Historical records, archival publications, and biographies of significant individuals whose groundbreaking work still influences the field today will all be included in this immersive exhibit.
This year’s event is a historic occasion, commemorating the first anniversary of the IIR Strategy 2024–2028 and uniting leaders from industry, academia, governments, and international organizations to highlight the vital role that the refrigeration sector plays in modern life.
