The India Cooling Action Plan addresses several factors and key result areas. Skilling technicians are just one of them. The responsibility for skilling has to be the task of service provider companies, dealers, contractors and manufacturers assisted by training institutions and government ITIs across India. The certification of trained technicians will result in near-zero refrigerant leakage that will significantly reduce impact on climate change.

Yes, availability of young, trained and certified technicians will impact HVAC market immensely. If the expert services will be available rapidly and easily, then the customer will be proactive on the preventive maintenance of their HVAC equipment.

If the HVAC equipment is well maintained, then the lifecycle of equipment will increase and also the power consumption will not increase with age of the equipment. Hence, there will be fewer loads on power plants, less requirement of fuel, and less pollution. Also, if the equipment life increases, then scrap generation and unsafe disposal of refrigerants in atmosphere will decrease, which will result in better environment tomorrow.

The initiative like Skill India is a great step towards a new future, which not only result in better climate, but also solve the big problem of unemployment.
