Air conditioning: What and why

Actually, in a very common way we can say that air conditioning is a process of removing heat from a selected or very specified enclosed area and dehumidification of air present in that area. It is a very common method that we use in our daily life via machines such as air cooler or air conditioners. Now technically speaking it is not only about cooling the area selected. It sometimes also deals with the heating of a specific area though very rarely. We can say is a complete combination of HVAC. Yes, HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, air conditioning. Nowadays the HVAC is very common terminology in industrial use to explain the process air conditioning.

Well, that was a short briefing about air conditioning. Let’s come to the significance of air conditioning and its necessities. Mainly when we are very tired and came home after a heavy loaded day then the bad clumsy weather may be very tedious and suffocating. We just need to switch on our AC machine and set the temperature. The work is done. The system will work to maintain the temperature as selected by the user. We can take a healthy nap and all our tiredness will have vanished by then. The air inside the room gets cooled and dehumidified. The well the vice versa is also true in case of winter season. In case of our workplace where may be we spending nearly half of our day, if the working area is not comfortable then efficient performance may not come out. Mainly in offices, centralised AC is used whereas in a domestic application we use either window unit AC or split system AC. In hospitals and health centers also air conditioning is done for the comfort of patients as required and also to maintain a clean and hygienic area. Yes, hygiene is also some how related with air conditioning. As in a closed room with proper air circulation and ventilation the chances of dust particles to enter the room is very very difficult and chances of contamination is very less. In many factories and industries, several equipments are there, needed to be stored in a certain temperature range to maintain there working with full efficiency, mostly server rooms and sensor rooms, etc. The dehumidification part of air conditioning is one of the most underrated but very important part. As moisture content can damage several machineries and cause malfunction of instruments.

Now, we need to understand that there several types of air conditioning available. It depends on the area where we are applying the system, also if we go inside the technical aspects then which kind of refrigeration cycle we are using and what is the tonnage of refrigeration we want is important while installation of air conditioning system of a particular area. For best results, we always should consult people who are in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning . As what is best and also economic for a particular user may be best decided by them.

So, this is a briefing about why and how to use air conditioning, hope this may give a basic idea to all.
