Let’s talk

Measures to bring down power consumption in HVAC/R solution

Sandeep Vasant

In the future, we could get to see superior innovations on mechanical components leading to much more efficient and robust systems.

Speaking about HVACR industry outlook in 2022 with Thermal Control Business Update, Sandeep Vasant, Head sales and business development, Fläkt Group India, remarks the air conditioner market is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 14 percent during the year of 2021-2026. The numbers could have been much larger as the HVAC/R market was adversely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in the last 2 years which slowed down the expansion of commercial building and Malls. However, we continue to see a steady growth of HVAC/R industry in some of the key sectors of Data Centres such as hyperscale and server rooms data hall, hospital, pharma manufacturing and other Industrial applications. With the Key result area of most of the organisation driving towards sustainability, health and wellbeing we could see a lot of SMART and Innovative HVAC/R solutions as well in FY 2022 onwards.

Brief about the company’s product range.

Since 196 in India, We have been the pioneers in manufacturing high quality Air handling units and Ventilation fans with various cooling capacity and air flow range with the tag of certification and assurance to suit every application in the market to add to this fleet we have the Precision air conditioning tailored to meet any high sensible cooling applications This wide range of Energy Efficient HVAC products make FläktGroup India a complete HVAC solution provider for its customers to meet any application and cooling needs of our customers. We at FläktGroup India aim to be the leading strategic partner for smart energy efficient Indoor Air and Critical Air Solutions and be recognized by our customers as the technology leader providing highest quality standards for improved air comfort, safety and well being. The talk of town in the last 2 years is on health and well being given the Covid-19 situation so, I am expecting technologies and innovation liaison with air quality, filtration along with smart innovations in the HVAC/R and Building services in-line with the sustainability vision as India takes pledge of net zero by 2070 along with reducing the emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030 in COP 26 summit held recently on FY 2021.

New measures and solutions to improve energy efficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration?

Keeping in view of Sustainability and India’s vision of net zero by 2070, measures to bring down the power consumption in the HVAC/R solution would be the ultimate goal. As per various reports conducted, the HVAC system takes away close to 30~40% of the building power consumption with these numbers. It’s equally important to refocus and have measures in place to operate the HVAC/R units at the right temperature. It’s important for users to refer back to the ASHRAE / ISHRAE documents on the running at the optimum operating temperature gradients for their applications and needs, without compromising on the health and safety of the people. This can be ensured by using the right filtration process on these HVAC/R solutions as well as on the solutions that see improvements and upgrades on the mechanical components such as the use of variable inverter compressor, EC Fans, Green Refrigerants and many more. In the future we could get to see superior innovations on the mechanical components in the HVAC/R leading to much more efficient and robust systems than what we all are using these days.
