New BITZER software simplifies refrigeration system design

Bitzer Software

BITZER has released the seventh version of its selection software, offering enhanced user-friendliness for designing refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems. The updated software features a responsive design, making it accessible on various devices, and includes a reworked accessories module, new product groups, and modernized underlying logic.

The demands on refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems are increasing. Numerous potential combinations make system design more and more complex. The completely revised BITZER SOFTWARE assists with selection and combination of compressors and components – all the way to heat exchangers and comprehensive compound systems.

Even more products integrated, designed even more clearly and optimized for all devices – these are the advantages of the completely revised selection software BITZER SOFTWARE. The software has been available for over 35 years and assists with the selection of compressors in combination with, for example, heat exchangers and accessories from the wide range of BITZER products and therefore with system design. The BITZER SOFTWARE provides information such as technical data, dimensions and connections, application limits and compressor polynomials for example in PDF format. ‘For the new design, we focused even more on user-friendliness – it is pure and straightforward,’ says Julian Pfaffl, Head of Product Performance and Digital Documentation. ‘We have made no structural changes, so new and experienced users alike will quickly find their way around the seventh version of the software.’

The unique feature of the BITZER SOFTWARE: optimised for all devices
Around 20 percent of users have already accessed the selection software using a mobile device in the past. The completely revised version of the BITZER SOFTWARE now features a responsive design, so that the interface automatically adapts to different end devices such as PCs, tablets or smartphones. As usual, the software is available as an online version and for download – free and with no need to register. ‘This way, customers can access the software from any device at any time,’ says Pfaffl. ‘The Windows desktop version is still the optimum choice for complex designs, yet a smartphone user can quickly double-check performance data or see what accessories are available.’

In addition to the updated design and content of the BITZER SOFTWARE, its underlying logic has been technically modernised. In future it will thus be possible to provide interfaces (APIs) for other selection programs or websites.

New accessories module
The accessories module in the BITZER SOFTWARE has been completely reworked and given its own tab. As soon as a compressor has been selected, compatible accessories are suggested automatically: from oil separator and oil cooler to the suitable protection device and frequency inverter, as well as motor and coupling in case of open drive compressors.

The remaining tabs with technical data, application limits, dimensional drawings and comprehensive documentation can be found in their usual places, with a fresh new look. The same applies to the PDF download and seasonal calculations. Compressor polynomials are now available for download as a CSV file straight from the results page.

New product groups
In addition to individual new products, the high-performance SQD shell and tube evaporators have been added to the BITZER SOFTWARE. These evaporators with a quadratic cross section are currently the most efficient direct expansion evaporators on the market and achieve maximum efficiencies. With eight different shell tube widths and a variety of pipe lengths, they are customisable whilst also meeting the strict energy efficiency requirements.

The BITZER SOFTWARE is available in 14 languages as a web and desktop application for Windows. Additionally, users who log into the myBITZER customer portal can store their calculations and, depending on their profile, even select ammonia compressor packs (ACP) or heat pumps.
