The BAC Day 2023, organised by the renowned INBAC Association during December in Mumbai, and led by Sakhee Chandrayan, was a resounding success, continuing its tradition of promoting innovation and collaboration in the business and tech sectors. Industry professionals convened in December to explore the latest trends and opportunities in building, automation, and technology.

The event boasted diverse sessions, prominent speakers, and panel discussions spanning various domains. Chandresh Mehta, Director of Rustomjee, set the tone with a keynote address on ‘Leading Smart Infrastructure in Digital India’. He emphasised adaptability and tech leverage for increased efficiency.

Notable sessions included talks on people-centric smart buildings, BACnet’s evolution, and a compelling discussion by Environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk. Topics ranged from cutting-edge techs like HVAC control to sustainability strategies and connectivity protocols, with workshops showcasing product displays.

The sessions delved into technologies such as building HVAC control, BMS systems, AL and ML, sustainability, BACnet, smart building, MEP design factors for efficiency and net zero, connectivity protocol, and sustainability strategies. Workshops offered a glance into product displays.

Andy McMillan, President and Managing Director of BACnet, highlighted ample opportunities such as IoT and open protocol connectivity. Steven Bushby from National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), remarked, ‘Make sure final standard is extensible’. He stressed the need for scalable design in standards.

Panel discussions on ‘Smart buildings and sustainable future’ spurred engaging dialogues on innovation, data harnessing for business growth, leveraging technology for sustainability, and encouraging collaborative thinking among attendees.
