Ingersoll Rand Industrial segment completed its previously-announced merger with Gardner Denver Holdings. In an interview with TCBU, Rajesh Ganjoo, Product Management & Sales Enablement Leader – MEIA, Ingersoll Rand said, the merger positions the new Ingersoll Rand as a global leader in mission-critical flow creation and industrial technologies. He also believes that the demand for the air compressor will be ultimately restored after the outbreak of COVID-19 and this market will show significant growth.

Congratulations on the successful merger between Ingersoll Rand and Gardner Denver. Could you let us know more about this?
The successful merger between Ingersoll Rand and Gardner Denver will emerge as a global leader in mission-critical flow creation and industrial technologies and Ingersoll Rand will operate as four reportable segments.

The Industrial Technologies and Services segment will include a combination of the Ingersoll Rand Industrial Compression Technologies and Services (CTS) business and the Gardner Denver Industrials business, which will be managed through three regional business units, Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA). Industrial Technologies and Services EMEIA will also include Gardner Denver’s EMCO Wheaton Fuel Systems and Runtech businesses.

In addition, this segment will include: a new Pressure and Vacuum Solutions business unit; and the Power Tools and Lifting business unit. The Pressure and Vacuum Solutions business unit includes brands and offerings with a significant Engineered-to-Order (ETO) focus, including Nash, Garo, Ingersoll Rand Industrial Multi-stage Gear (MSG) Centrifugal Compressors, Gardner Denver Custom Engineered Products (CEP) and EMCO Wheaton Loading Systems.

Precision and Science Technologies segment will include Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Precision Flow Systems (PFS) business unit as well as Gardner Denver’s Medical business unit and Gardner Denver’s Specialty Pumps.

The High Pressure Solutions business unit will include Gardner Denver’s Petroleum and Industrial Pump business whereas the Specialty Vehicle Technologies segment will consist of Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Club Car business.

Recently, Ingersoll Rand has announced the launch of new rotary screw compressor and small recip in India. The announcement comes as a part of company’s larger plans of launching an extensive product portfolio in the year 2020-21 in India over the coming months. These products will bring the best of trusted Ingersoll Rand and Gardener Denver technologies.

What are the new products the company will be offering?
Post the merger, the combined company produces mission-critical flow creation systems, including air compressors, pumps, blowers, the well-known Club Car brand of electric vehicles and systems for fluid management, loading and material handling. The company has been operating in industrial technologies and services, precision and science technologies, high pressure solutions and specialty vehicle technologies. The current and upcoming launches will primarily be from small-scale sector, automotive and light industry – catering to the needs of painting, fabrication, and maintenance industries.

Recently, Ingersoll Rand has announced two new products – a small air-cooled reciprocating in 3HP-25HP and new rotary screw in 7.5-11 kw. The CompAir reciprocating compressor launched is designed for heavy industrial applications to provide quality and performance to exceed customer’s requirements. While the 7.5-11 kw rotary screw compressors ensures maximum uptime through its rugged design, better efficiency through integrated compression module and compact footprint to save floor space.

All products under the current brand will carry the traditional values of Ingersoll Rand products – efficiency, reliability and productivity to help customers get better and cost-efficient results.

How does the company see its growth trajectory from here?
The merger of Gardner Denver and Ingersoll Rand Industrial positions the new Ingersoll Rand as a global leader in mission-critical flow creation and industrial technologies. With more than 16,000 employees globally, the combined company produces mission-critical flow creation systems, including air compressors, pumps, blowers, the well-known Club Car brand of electric vehicles and systems for fluid management, loading and material handling.

Are you still on target to meet your 2030 sustainability goals?
Yes, Ingersoll Rand is still committed 2030 sustainability goal which is designed to meet the challenges of climate change, resource constraints, provide world-class systems and service performance for buildings, homes, transportation and industrial customers.

Is there any impact of COVID-19?
During COVID-19 outbreak, Ingersoll Rand continued servicing mission-critical products that support essential sectors on the front lines of minimising the spread and fighting the impact of COVID-19, including the healthcare and public health, food, transportation and logistics, critical manufacturing, energy and defense industrial sectors. The company used this period (lockdown phase due to COVID-19) to increase our investments and resources on new products innovation and accelerate the launches.

What are the trends you foresee for compressors industry post COVID-19 era?
The spread of COVID-19 has created a marginal impact on the global air compressor market. The sustainability of the air compressor market is mainly attributed to the significantly increasing demand from various industries and the company believes that innovation begins with the customers’ need. Ingersoll Rand products are innovative, customer-focused and benefit diversified industries including commercial real estate, healthcare, hospitality, industrial and infrastructure. In addition, it is expected that the demand for the air compressor will be ultimately restored after the outbreak of COVID-19 and this market will show significant growth.
